Document Verification & Methods

1. The candidates who qualify in the final examination are called for document verification. The Roll Nos. of such candidates are notified in the Employment News/Rozgar Samachar and some other national and regional newspapers. These are also hosted in the website of RRB, Bhubaneswar.

2. A candidate coming for document verification is normally required to report at RRB/Bhubaneswar at 9:00 AM and he is released by 19:00 hours on the same day. During verification, all the original certificates of the candidate is scrutinized. Further, his/her hand writings and finger prints as available in the original application form is compared with those taken from the candidate during the examination/s as well as those taken during certificate verification. This is to confirm the genuineness of the candidates.

In case every thing is found to be OK, the candidate may be empanelled. However, in case of any discrepancy in the certificates, the candidates are advised to bring the proper certificates/affidavits as necessary at the earliest within one week of the document verification. They may also send the originals of the same by Speed Post/Registered Post addressed to Assistant Secretary, Railway Recruitment Board, Bhubaneswar – 751023, along with an application indicating their Name, Roll No., Category No., Name of the Post and Date of Certificate Verification. After scrutiny, the original certificates are sent back t the candidates by Registered Post.

3. Whenever a candidate is empanelled, the panel is sent to the Chief Personnel Officer, East Coast Railway, Rail Vihar, East Coast Railway Headquarters Campus, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar – 751023. Simultaneously, a confirmation letter is also sent to the candidate by Registered Post intimating about his/her employments. Accordingly, after receipt of the confirmation letter, the candidate should not make any further correspondence with RRB/Bhubaneswar. If required, the candidate should correspond with the office of Chief Personnel Officer at the address indicated above.

4. As per the guidelines given by Railway Recruitment Control Board, candidates equal to 30% over and above the number of vacancies of each community are being called for certificate verification as stand by provided adequate suitable candidates are available in the merit list. The Roll Nos. of these standby candidates are displayed in the results in ascending order of Roll Nos. In case any candidate from the main list do not turn up for certificate verification/medically unfit/do not join , the candidates from the standby list are empanelled strictly in order of merit.

How RRB Works:

Railway Recruitment Board calls for application from eligible candidates through Employment News (A publication of the Government of India). The employment notification is also published on the Internet web site. The applications are scrutinized for eligibility. The eligible candidates are called for a written examination with call letters being sent a month in advance of the date of the examination. In most of the categories of jobs, there is no interview after the written examination. In some categories, there will be a second stage written examination. In categories related to operational safety, there will be a psychological test.

The application-details furnished by successful candidates are verified and they are called for counselling and scrutiny of original documents. A panel of names is then recommended to competent authorities to the extent of vacancies. The candidates will be required to pass a medical examination before appointment. The results of selection at every stage will be made available on the Notice Board of RRB/Patna in Results through the Internet website to the successful candidates through post.

The selection process is based on merit and is subject to the rules and regulations issued by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), Government of India which includes reservation of jobs for certain castes/communities such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Communities (OBC), etc. Ex-servicemen are also entitled for reservation as per the rules. The entire computerized recruitment system functions impersonally without fear or favour. There is no scope for corruption, influence or discretion in this process. Candidates indulging in malpractices and unfair means are dealt with strictly.

The overall policy guidelines for all Railway Recruitment Boards in India are laid down by Railway Recruitment Control Board, New Delhi.

Creation of Railway Service Commission

The Railway Service commission, Danapur found the small office at the back of DRM Office, Danapur too small to execute its responsibilities. In November, 1981, therefore, the Railway Service Commission, Danapur was shifted in a private building on Jamal Road in Patna. Along with its shifting to Patna the Railway Service commission, Danapur was re-christened as Railway Service Commission, Patna vide the Railway Board's letter dated 19th December, 1981.
However, in 1982, the Railway Service Commission, Patna's jurisdiction was severely cut. The Railway Board vide its letter dated 23rd September, 1982 limited the jurisdiction to only Dhanbad, Danapur and Mughalsarai divisions of Eastern Railway and Katihar division of the Northeast Frontier Railway. The remaining work load was transferred to Railway Service Commission, Calcutta. Thus the Railway Service Commission, Patna was given only one fourth of its previous work load. Accordingly, the staff strength was also curtailed. Several representations were made to Railway Board to restore the jurisdiction of Railway service Commission, Patna. But it had no effect.
In 1985, the Railway Service Commission, at Ranchi became a full-fledged Railway Service Commission which was to fill only ST vacancies. Thus ST vacancies pertaining to Dhanbad, Danapur, Mughalsarai of Eastern Railway and Katihar Division of Northeast Frontier Railway were also transferred to Railway Service Commission, Ranchi.

Re-naming as Railway Recruitment Board

The Railway Service Commission, Patna was re-christened on 2/1/1985 as Railway Recruitment Board, Patna as per directive of Railway Board. In the year 1985, the other eventful mark in Railway Recruitment Board, Patna's history was that its office was shifted to the Railway building in Mahendrughat on 31/7/1985 from a private building at Jamal Road.
Since then, the Railway Recruitment Board, Patna has been functioning in the same building and discharging its responsibilities of making recruitment selections for its present jurisdiction of Danapur, Mughalsarai, Dhanbad Divisions (East Central Railway) & Head Quarter of East Central Railway and Katihar Division (Northeast Frontier Railway).

The University of Kalyani was established in the year 1960. Information to the candidates aspiring to take admission at IIT Bombay "It has been our experience that some JEE entrants have such a severe deficiency in English, that their academic performance suffers inordinately in the first semester and this affects their confidence detrimentally during their subsequent academic career at the institute. All JEE entrants to IIT Bombay in 2011 will, therefore, undergo an elementary test on English proficiency at the start of the semester. Students who score less than 20% in this test and who further have a total score in Physics, Chemistry and Maths of less than or equal to 150 will be put in a semester long intensive Programme in English, Physics, Chemistry, Maths immediately.
